The software programs that are developed and distributed by the Corps of Engineers' Hydrologic Engineering Center (HEC) are applicable to studies worldwide. When used properly, these programs provide information about watershed runoff, channel stages, reservoir system performance, flood damages, sediment volumes, and water quality.
HEC staff provides training in the use of the programs to Corps engineers and scientists. But many engineers and scientists outside the Corps will benefit from proper use of the programs, if they can learn to use them properly.

We have organized and conducted more than 100 courses to teach engineers and scientists how to use software developed by the Corps of Engineers' Hydrologic Engineering Center (HEC), including HEC-1, HEC-1F, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, and HEC-DSS.
The courses are presented directly for our clients, or they are sponsored by various government agencies, by universities, and by software vendors. Our courses include a mix of theory, application, tips and tricks, and hands-on experience with the software.
All members of our staff have experience training professionals, through university extension programs and through our consulting business. Thus, we have developed special skills in communicating complex technical subject matter.
We also have presented professional development courses for more than 25 years for the American Society of Civil Engineers, various universities, and software vendors. We have conducted training courses in India, Indonesia, Portugal, and the Central Asian Republics, relying on simultaneous translation in some cases.
