The Corps of Engineers and Reno, Sparks, and Washoe County have designed and implemented data collection and transmission tools, and data filing, displaying, and disseminating tools for a flood warning system (FWS) to reduce future flood damage and public risk.</div> </tD> </tR> <tR> <tD VALIGN=TOP COLSPAN=3 BGCOLOR=#339933 HEIGHT= 16 WIDTH="537"><div> <B>Action</B></div> </tD> </tR> <tR> <tD VALIGN=TOP COLSPAN=3 HEIGHT= 115 WIDTH="537"><div> We have developed components of the system flood preparedness / flood action plan. This plan includes (1) a GIS-based vulnerability assessment; (2) a threat recognition plan that specifies how the data from the new collection system should be used to recognize a flood; and (3) a warning dissemination system that identifies who should be notified and how. The preparedness plan itself addresses evacuation and mass care; temporary protection; vital service maintenance; public information; post-flood recovery, and the institutional structure for response.</div> </tD> </tR> </TABLE></B></div> <bR> <bR> <bR> <bR> </td> </tr></table></body>
