Aviso FS (formerly known as CFS--Catchment Forecasting System) provides site specific forecasts of future flows and stages for threat recognition.
We developed Aviso FS to help our clients make these forecasts with data from their local real-time surface observations systems. Aviso FS uses rainfall-runoff-routing models that many engineers and hydrologist already know and trust, including HEC-1 and SWMM. Thus it is easy to configure and calibrate. In fact, in many applications, we are able to begin with existing models that were developed for stormwater management studies.
Aviso FS includes links to hydrologic engineering and water resource planning tools so that you can use the forecasts for further analysis. With these links, stages can be forecasted in complex flow situations, and reservoir operation can be evaluated.
Aviso FS was designed with links to real-time database systems, including OneRain's DIADvisor, HydroLynx's NovaStar, and custom database systems that are structured to comply with common standards. It also has links to our Aviso Watch threat recognition and information dissemination tool.

As shown below, when you make a forecast with Aviso FS, you can visualize the results immediately, in a format that you can understand. With an easy-to-use interface, you can customize this to provide the information that you need for flood warning.
The Aviso FS interface insulates users from the details of program input files, model parameters, and database connectivity. Once Aviso FS is properly installed, configured, and calibrated by us, making a forecast is as easy as clicking on Windows menu items. Changing model parameters or evaluating "what if" scenarios is just as easy.
For example, in many catchments, a quantitative precipitation forecast (QPF) is key to having sufficient forecast lead time for emergency action. To use a QPF with Aviso FS, you simply complete the form shown, then make a new forecast.
When you make a forecast with Aviso FS, you don't have to dig for the results. It plots the forecasts automatically. And if you want to see graphs of other observed data or forecasted values, you simply select from lists of available series and click OK.
Aviso FS uses flexible plotting tools, too, so that you can change the look, copy the results, and do what you expect to be able to do with a modern Windows program.
